Peter Lion was inclined towards writing from a very young age. During his growing up years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote a number of short stories. His talent within this field was further perfected when after enrolling in the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he soon began contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to create a career of his passion for the words first by getting a degree in Journalism through the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his very first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he had graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured into the television business before he had completed his college. A couple of months before graduation, Peter Lion took up a job with WTNH-TV as a part time graphics operator. This television channel was an associate of the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no experience in this industry grabbed this chance to gain an entry and to create a foothold in the news and tv industry.
He learned the ropes quickly, understanding the technicalities in the workings of the television network and continued to be a part of the channel for more than a period of 2 years.
He then transferred to Boston and started working together with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his wish to be in television with the exceptional passion for writing pulled him back to his home state as part of a little television station start up.
He joined this team to be a director and a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, that was to be the first within the state. He grabbed this opportunity of showcasing his talent and knowledge as in his stint in Boston he has had the capacity of working with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion relocated to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing a couple of years in this start up. In his stint in this television network, he exploited the various elements of his talent and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It had been during his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
Then he moved back to Connecticut and was a part of ESPN sports network. Still a part of ESPN, he is in charge of a number of their shows such as Sports Centre as well as the NFL Draft in his position within the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a two time winner in the Emmy awards, although he has been nominated many times for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work with Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently focusing on his 2nd book. He’s additionally a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is also its lead singer as well as guitarist
